This "qtExample" package contains several simple Qt projects to create 
the various working ROOT-based and Qt-based applications described by

  "User's Guide v4.04"                        http://root.cern.ch/root/doc/RootDoc.html

   "Qt-ROOT implementation of TVirtualX interface" p. 361

To  build it from the Qt project file do

   1. Download and unpack the Qt project directory:
        "http://root.bnl.gov/QtRoot/downloads/qtRootExamples.tar.gz
        
      For example use "wget"
        "wget http://root.bnl.gov/QtRoot/downloads/qtRootExamples.tar.gz"

   2. "Un-tar" the archive
       tar -xzvf qtRootExamples.tar.gz
       cd qtRoot/qtExamples

   3. To create your platform makefile with TrollTech project utility:
     (Attention: one needs very "Q"make rather "G"make)
     
      "qmake"
      
     or 
     
      "qmake "CONFIG+=debug"
      
      to create the applications with the built-in debug information

   4. To build the application
      "make"

It should create you several separate directories with the working example in.
Each directory contains its own README. Please read it FIRST.


1. HelloWord     - Qt-based ROOT application  (see p.362)
2. HelloCanvas   - ROOT-based Qt-application  (see p.362)
3. HelloCint(*)  - ROOT-based shared library  (see p.363)
4. ex1           - the simple ROOT-based Qt-application built automatically 
                   with the qt "designer" (see: p.364)
5. QtGBrowser(*) - "Advanced version of the Qt application built with the Qt "designer"
                   (see: http://root.bnl.gov/QtRoot/QtRoot.html#designer )
                   
6. CustomWidgets(*) - TQtFloatSpinBox:
                          To input the float point values
                         (The QSpinBox works with the integers only)

                    - TQtColorSelectButton
                          To select the ROOT color from 
                          the color box dialog

                    - TQtPatternSelectButton
                          To select the ROOT hatch style from the 
                         "select style dialog"

7. HelloLife        - the example made of the the original Qt "life" example and
                      ROOT "hsimple.C" tutorial to demonstrate the off-screen TPad rendering

8. HelloPixmap      - the example shows how to use the special ROOT object of TQtPixmapBox class.
                      Since TQtPixmapBox subclasses TObject it can drawn onto the TCanvas as 
                      any other TObject does. On the other hand the interiour of the box can be 
                      painted using Qt QPainter class and QPixmap methods as well.

9. HelloZoomer      - the simple (non-ROOT) example for the widget zoomming the pixmap objects.

10.CustomCanvasMenu - the same as "ex1". In addition, it demonstrates how one can customize 
                      the automatically generated ROOT Context Menu.
                      
11.macros           - The set of the simple ROOT macros

It is the first public presentation, and huge amount of the unfold yet bugs and typos

         rootlibs.pri 
         rootcintrules.pri
         
      to be present in  your "$ROOTSYS/include" directory
      If your ROOT installation lacks these files you can find it here and
      either:

        1. update your installation
      or
        2. edit "qmake" project files to point to your local custom directory
